I am a plant ecologist and a botanist at the School of Agriculture, University of Lisbon, Portugal.
In this webpage, you can find information on on-going and past research, and on my main research interests and outcomes.
I have studied vegetation-environment relationships and humanized landscapes in Portugal, Southwestern Europe. My research interests have recently broadened in temporal and spatial scales, and in interdisciplinarity. I am currently focused on applied vegetation approaches and interconnected sciences such as plant functional ecology, invasion ecology, weed science, geomorphology, eco-hydrology, and environmental sociology.
I am passionate with agricultural and fluvial landscapes and I am focused on understanding the effects of human disturbance (fire, streamflow regulation, climate change and land use) in aquatic and riparian vegetation to provide guidance and decision-making tools for management and conservation. I am also working on integrated plant management on urban and orchard weeds.
